The Supreme Court of the US has agreed to look at affirmative action admissions policies at the University of Texas. The Court’s decision will probably effect admissions policies at all American colleges and universities. Family wealth and socioeconomic class are part of the debate, since those students able to pay tend to receive acceptance at higher rates than those not able to pay, as are various considerations that fall under the umbrella of “merit.”
