Dr. Deb Figart, Distinguished Professor of Economics at Stockton University, will give a presentation on student debt on Tuesday, December 1st 2015 at 430PM.
Here are two recent article from Inside Higher Ed that might help prepare for her presentation:
Doug Lederman’s article “Student Debt, Rising Again” reports on the 2% uptick in indebtedness from 2013 to 2014.
The second article alerts readers to the U.S. Department of Education’s finalizing of expanded income-based repayment for those who take out student loans (REPAYE). This program could have significant impact.
…the Obama administration estimates that the new program, dubbed Revised Pay as You Earn, or REPAYE, will make some five million borrowers newly eligible for capping their payments at 10 percent of their income and receiving forgiveness after as early as 20 years of repayment.
