LGBTQI Homelessness and other Inequitability and Injustice

The Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia provides health and wellness services for LGBTQI and gender nonconforming folks. In addition to its website, the Mazzoni Center has active Facebook and Twitter accounts. One of the recent post to the Mazzoni Center Facebook page reports that:

Past surveys by Valley Youth House show that 54 percent of Philadelphia’s homeless youth identify as LGBTQ, drastically higher than the national average of around 30 percent,” writes Ernest Owens in Metro Philly. Last week the organization embarked on a new survey of homeless people in Philadelphia, using digital devices for the first time with the goal of gathering more accurate numbers. Owens shares some of the stories they encountered of LGBTQ youth looking for a stable home:
